The city within the city

In the heart of the city, between Alexanderplatz, the Red Town Hall, the Berlin Cathedral, Gendarmenmarkt and the new Stadtschloss, the Nikolaiviertel is a slow-paced and charming oasis in the middle of the pulsating city.

The first Berlin houses, the first market and of course the first church were built here at the end of the 12th century. Today, small shops, cozy restaurants and many historic corners characterize the quarter. In the heart of the picturesque scenery, the oldest church building in the city still rises into the sky with two slender towers: St. Nicholas Church.
