Relaxed Christmas shopping in Berlin
Christmas is just around the corner and it’s about time to get all those small or large presents for your loved ones. Those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the big shopping centers will find a charming alternative in the Nikolai Quarter.
Here you can browse through the decorated streets for gifts at your leisure. From chocolate specialties to clothing, from home accessories to antiques and countless ideas for lovely little gifts: almost 40 individual stores, many of them owner-managed, offer a very unique shopping experience.
We discovered a huge selection of soft and cozy fine wool scarves in the Kashmir Shop behind the Nikolaikirche. These are available in countless color and pattern combinations for €49.00, so you can find one for every fashion taste. If you are looking for something warm for the hands, bellanatur at Propststraße 3 is the place to go: in addition to other sustainable women’s apparel, there is also a large selection of cozy cuffs ranging from €12.00 to €29.00, made in the company’s own workshops. And because we don’t want to forget the feet: at Pramo in Poststrasse 2, you can find the hilarious sock designs by Doris & Dude made from bamboo and organic cotton starting at €9.95.
Those with a sweet tooth will find what they are looking for at Viba at Poststrasse 25: the sweet Christmas bouquets for from €16.00 are not only unforgettable in taste, but also look incredibly pretty. If you fancy an unusual drink, you should visit Amarandel at Rathausstrasse 19. Here, for example, you can buy self-produced honey wine in various flavors in great gift boxes, complete with drinking horn and matching clay cups for €44.90.
As a gift for Berlin fans, we discovered the Brandenburg Gate as a 3D laser engraving in crystal glass at My Laser Glass in Strasse am Nussbaum – available from €39.00 depending on size. A few steps further on, in the Marco Mannozzi Make-Up Lounge, you can purchase a gift voucher for spoiling your loved ones with the amount of your choice – redeemable for individual consultations, a great evening make-up and, of course, for all the cosmetic products on offer.
And if you’re not just looking for a cute gift, but also want to do something good at the same time: the world-famous “Elfpunkte-Engel” angels from Wendt & Kühn are available in a special limited edition for €64.00 at the Kunsthaus am Roten Rathaus. For every angel sold, €4.00 goes to the World Childhood Foundation founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden.
We wish you a wonderful Christmas season and lots of fun shopping in the Nikolai Quarter. Of course, all our tips are only valid while stocks last and no responsibility is taken for the correctness of this information.
