The Knoblauch house, next to the Church of St. Nicholas, is one of the few remaining mansions of the 18th century in Berlin. The faithfully reconstructed living rooms are dedicated to the Knoblauch family. The building was not only the family’s home but also the offices of Knoblauch’s silk ribbon business and was re-opened as a museum after restoration in 1989. The focus of the exhibits is the “Berlin home decor in the Biedermeier era”. Family documents inform visitors about social life, economy, politics and architecture of the time.
