The Nikolai Quarter with its beautiful squares, the city’s oldest church and the narrow streets is a picturesque backdrop for artists of all walks of life. And – as seen here on the River Spree – offers a magnificent view of the Berlin Cathedral too. Andreas Mattern and his fellow painters use the area by the St. George monument for their watercolor and etching work. “Artists by the Water” – stop by and watch art in the making.

Andreas Mattern is also a lecturer at various academies and offers painting excursions and workshops.
