Teddy’s Berlin
Over 2,000 teddy bears await visitors at the Teddy Bear store in the Nikolaiviertel, including bears in every conceivable size and variety and, of course, from a wide range of manufacturers. Among the most famous teddy bears are certainly those made by Hermann and, of course, Steiff. In addition to the classic varieties, there are themed bears, such as the “Berlin Originals,” which are modeled after Berlin characters such as the Berlin flower woman or the porter Nante.

Puppenstube im Nikolaiviertel
The dollhouse on Nikolaikirchplatz is a well-established institution among doll collectors. It offers artist dolls and collector’s editions, some of which are strictly limited, elaborately crafted unique pieces with hand-blown glass eyes and real hair. Among the most famous names found in the Puppenstube are Schildkröt, Himstedt, Hildegard Günzel, Heidi Plusczok, Zwergnase, and, of course, Käthe Kruse.

German Design
As the name suggests, German Design is dedicated to a number of items that are considered “typically German” and popular worldwide. These undoubtedly include cuckoo clocks, which are still available here in mechanical versions with chain drives, elaborate carvings, and moving figures. It is also surprising how many Americans actually collect German beer steins. A large selection of handmade steins made of ceramic, pewter, or stoneware can be found in the store on Rathausstraße.

Erzgebirgischer Weihnachtsmarkt
Here you can find small works of art all year round that are popular with collectors all over the world. First and foremost, of course, are the figurines and especially the little angels by Wendt & Kühn, Hubrig, and Blank. Incense smokers are also a great example of Erzgebirge craftsmanship and are available here in countless variations and from several manufacturers. Finally, there is also a worldwide community of collectors for nutcrackers, and the Erzgebirge Christmas market surprises with a huge selection here too – lovingly crafted and painted, of course, from small 10 cm specimens to impressive nutcrackers that are up to one meter tall.

NBA, Pokémon & Co.: sports and trading cards, sports memorabilia ranging from autographs in sealed holders to signed shirts can be found in the new Underpaid Collectibles store on Poststraße. An extremely popular area of collecting in the US, collectibles from the world of basketball, football, wrestling, golf, UFC, and Formula 1 can now also be found in Berlin.

Antiquariat Clemens Paulusch
Last but not least, the Nikolaiviertel is also home to one of the largest specialist antiquarian bookshops for maps and cityscapes in the German-speaking region. Together with decorative graphics, the total stock amounts to approximately 80,000 sheets, and accordingly, Antiquariat Paulusch is firmly established in the collectors’ community. Old maps in particular exert a special fascination, which we can easily understand each time we visit and admire colorized copperplate maps that are almost 300 years old.
